As an employer, you have a responsibility to ensure the safety of your employees, but you also have to ensure that you are fulfilling your duty to protect the public and the environment at the same time. This means that you need to have a workplace injury management plan in place, and you need to ensure that you are following all the correct regulations.

Physiotherapy

Professional drivers such as drivers of trucks, public passenger vehicles and vehicles carrying dangerous goods must meet higher medical standards because of the demands of their work, the extensive hours spent on the road and the serious consequences likely to result from a crash.
Amtan Workplace Doctors can help conduct a Fitness to Drive medical assessment consisting of the following tests and investigation of medical conditions: Health Questionnaire, Eyesight Test, Blood Pressure Check and other tests to ensure drivers are fit for the job.
Commercial Drivers Medical
Commercial Driver Medicals (nationally known as Fitness to Drive Assessments), are conducted to increase safety on the road for all by ensuring drivers can adequately perform tasks when driving a heavy vehicle.
Professional drivers such as drivers of trucks, public passenger vehicles and vehicles carrying dangerous goods must meet higher medical standards because of the demands of their work, the extensive hours spent on the road and the serious consequences likely to result from a crash.
If you fail to notify the department that you have a permanent, long-term medical condition that is likely to adversely affect your ability to drive safely you may receive a penalty of more than $6000 and your driver licence may be cancelled.

Vaccinations
Immunisation is a safe and effective way to protect you and your employees from harmful, contagious diseases. It also safeguards the health of other people, now and for future generations.
We vaccinate against all the common seasonal illnesses, such as Influenza. This is an annual vaccination recommended across age groups.

A Drug and Alcohol Screen is performed when a biological sample such as blood, urine, saliva or breath is collected and analysed. Analysing a sample takes from a few seconds up to 5 minutes and will detect the presence or absence of drugs and alcohol or their metabolites in the sample collected.
The presence of certain drugs and alcohol or their metabolites indicates that the substance detected has been consumed. The consumption of certain drugs is prohibited by some employers and the results of a Drug and Alcohol Test will determine if a worker is fit to enter the workplace and perform their duties safely.

Pre-employment Medicals
Pre-employment medical assessments protect the company against hiring an unsuitable worker, but they also protect the potential employee. Allowing someone to start in a new position, without understanding their ability to meet the physical demands of the job, is simply setting them up to fail.
The assessment may (depending on the employer’s requirements) involve a chest x-ray, blood tests, urine drug screen, alcohol breath test, audiometry (hearing test), spirometry (lung test), manual handling assessment, fitness test, MRI and/or ECG.
