Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

Amtan Medical Brings Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) to Primary Care

What is Photodynamic therapy (PDT)

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a non-invasive treatment for superficial skin cancers (BCC and IEC), pre-cancer sunspots as well as acne and ageing skin.

PDT is commonly performed in cosmetically sensitive parts of the body – including face, scalp, lower legs, as well as other areas.

It offers excellent results in treating superficial skin cancers on the face, sunspots and marks on skin caused by sun damage or medical skin conditions, like acne.

It also improves the blood circulation of the skin, and stimulates the collagen production, it can reduce wrinkles and scars, and for anti ageing treatments.

Amtan is now one of the few locations in the Gold Coast that is approved for administering PDT, which means you can now book in a session today.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment that involves light-sensitive medicine and a light source to destroy cancerous and precancerous cells after light activation.

PDT is a two-step procedure. In the first step, the photo-active drug (ALA) is applied to the skin and allowed to be taken up by the target cells. The second step involves the activation of ALA in the presence of oxygen with a specific wavelength of light directed toward the target tissue.

We use GME (German Medical Engineer) MultiLite to treat skin conditions.
